I was reading an article the other day that was relaying the importance of intentionally adding beauty to your life. I think we get this concept skewed most days.
I don’t mean to encourage you to spend more time on your hair. I’m not referring to appearance in the slightest. I mean to suggest you should add flowers to your apartment. I mean to suggest you should buy more candles that flicker and envelop the rooms in your home with aromas that make you feel vibrant and at ease and hopeful for the day ahead. I mean to suggest you should take the long drive home, if only to notice and appreciate the leaves falling and changing colors from the trees above you.
I mean to suggest you should compliment a stranger if you like their striped blue socks, you should ask the lady at the check-out stand how her day is going, because by the look of her tired eyes, you know she needs that.
Intentionally adding beauty to your life is much less about unearthing, and much more about noticing what already is.
